WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Students and parents interested to learn about curriculum and admissions at our nation’s military academies are invited to this year’s Academy Day, hosted by U.S. Representative Ron Lewis at Elizabethtown High School on Saturday, September 16th. Representatives from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy will be on hand from 8:45 a.m. until 11:45a.m. U.S. Representative Ron Lewis will deliver opening remarks followed by a brief presentation explaining the Congressional appointment process to military academies for students in the Second District who are interested in applying. “Serving your country in the United States armed forces is a challenge, but it is also an honor,” said Lewis. “Our military needs to attract the most capable and qualified young people to be its future leaders. Students who want to learn more about attending a service academy after they graduate from high school should come by on Saturday to hear first-hand from the academies’ representative.” Elizabethtown High School is located on Panther Lane off of Highway 62 in Elizabethtown. The Academy Day will be held in the school’s Commons Area, which is through the main entrance.
