Barren County Farmer Receives Presidential Appointment

WASHINGTON, D.C – H. Barlow of Cave City has been nominated by President Bush to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Board of Education Sciences, U.S. Rep. Ron Lewis announced Wednesday.
 
            "I would like to congratulate H. Barlow on his nomination,” said Lewis.  “Mr. Barlow has distinguished himself as a trusted advisor and important advocate for students and farmers throughout the Commonwealth. I was proud to recommend him for this position.”
 
            H. Barlow earned his B.S. Agriculture Animal Science and Management from the University of Kentucky. He has served as Director of the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association for Lone Star Milk Producers Coop and was a member Kentucky Agricultural Development Board.
 
            The National Board of Education Sciences is a presidential appointed advisory panel of the Institute of Education Sciences in the U.S. Department of Education. The Board manages a range of responsibilities including reviewing and approving research priorities, consulting with the Director about Institute policies, and regularly evaluating the work of the Institute to ensure that its initiatives are consistent with the objectives established in the Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002.
 
            H. Barlow's nomination will be subject to the advice and consent authority of the U.S. Senate.
