WASHINGTON, D.C – U.S. Representative Ron Lewis announced today that the Owensboro-Daviess County Airport Board will receive $1,059,166 in grant assistance from the Federal Aviation Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The Airport Board will apply funds to complete the extension of an existing runway.
"I congratulate the Airport Board for their diligence in applying for these funds," said Lewis. "Once complete, the runway extension project will significantly strengthen the region's transportation infrastructure, generating new opportunities for economic development in Daviess County and surrounding counties."
The extension of runways at Owensboro-Daviess County Airport is necessary to accommodate increased corporate and private aircraft traffic as a result of growing commercial and industrial development in the region.
