Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative William Jefferson, D-LA, announced that the state of Louisiana will receive over $21 million in FEMA grants to fund the restoration of buses in the Regional Transit Authority’s fleet. After sustaining heavy damage from flood water, many of RTA’s buses must be completely refit. The FEMA grants will provide for the replacement of odometers, radios, camera systems, bike racks, fare boxes, and other task-specific equipment.
“RTA has performed admirably using the limited resources available since the storm,” Jefferson said. “With this funding, they will increase the number of buses available to help our citizens with their transportation needs.” |
