Cape Cod Renewable Fuels Partnership
3225 Main St.  PO BOX 226 Barnstable, MA 02630

Amount Requested: - $150,000

These funds are being sought by the Cape Cod Commission, a regional agency on Cape Cod that has taken a leadership role in the planning for the deployment of renewable fuels.  The Cape Cod region boasts a high awareness and interest in renewable energy and has significant assets that can help boost the growth of renewable fuels. Waste oils, algae and large biomass are all abundant on Cape Cod and offer potential as advanced biofuel feed stocks.  Local, regional and federal government agencies are interested in coordinating their fuel purchases to stimulate demand for renewable fuels.

The Transportation, Community and System Preservation grant funding will be used to develop the Cape Cod Renewable Fuels Partnership Strategic Implementation Plan (“SIP”).  The SIP will identify potential renewable fuel options, technologies, markets, and infrastructure needs for Cape Cod, and it will develop recommendations and steps required to make use of bio-fuels both viable and sustainable in the Cape & Islands region while maximizing economic, environmental, and social benefits through cooperative efforts with public and private entities.

This plan will be developed in cooperation with the federal and state agencies, local and county municipalities, and other stakeholders that comprise the Cape Cod Renewable Fuels Partnership.  The SIP will serve as a guide to future government (taxpayer funded) purchases of renewable fuels.
