Amount Requested: - $2,700,000
The project involves the planning, site selection and design of a Combined Arms Collective Training Facility for the Massachusetts Army National Guard estimated to cost $34 million. The facility will allow the MANG to train for warfare in a realistic urban environment prior to deployment to Iraq, Afghanistan or elsewhere. Urban warfare training is relevant to the military's current and likely future missions. Further, the facility will make Massachusetts Military Reservation a vital point of training for soldiers and public safety personnel from the northeast. When not being used by the National Guard, the facility will be important for homeland security and public safety training for police, fire and emergency medical service agencies.
This will benefit the taxpayer by helping military and law enforcement personnel secure advanced training in modern facilities, and by saving on travel expenses for accessing facilities that are much closer to home.
