New England Wildlife Center
500 Columbian Street South Weymouth, MA 02190

Amount Requested: - $250,000

These funds are being requested by the New England Wildlife Center to provide funding for their program that provides comprehensive care to injured wildlife in the area south of Boston, and to underwrite a portion of their education program.  Center biologists and veterinarians use wildlife medicine as a unique way to connect people to wildlife and habitats, to teach bioskills and life sciences in underserved communities K-12, to train undergraduates nationwide.  The New England Wildlife Center is the first facility built to LEED specifications nationwide.  The education is a 3-pronged approach; care, education and demonstration to achieve conservation through action.  Taxpayers benefit from this project because NEWC has an existing network of teachers, classrooms and schools that participate in our brand of hands-on, science-based environmental education programs directed at underserved schools in Boston and south of Boston.
