Amount Requested: - $500,000

These funds are being sought by officials in the Town of Sandwich to assist with creating a state-of-the-art athletic facility at Sandwich High School that will not only replace a track & field in disrepair but will also serve as a living memorial to all veterans past, present & future.  This facility will be used for ceremonies, concerts, theater as well as an outdoor classroom with its energy efficient components.  The stadium is named after Captain DeConto who was killed on the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon.   Taxpayer support for the program is needed because the town has experienced significant state funding cutbacks and the current facilities are in poor condition.
