Washington, DC -- U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin and Barbara A. Mikulski (both D-MD) will hold a press conference on Friday, July 11 at 11 a.m. in Baltimore with members of the small business and non-profit communities to talk about how rising gas prices are affecting their ability to do business and deliver services to Marylanders.
Senators Cardin and Mikulski will discuss the need for swift congressional passage of legislation that would lower gas prices by holding big oil companies, speculators and OPEC accountable. When President Bush took office in 2001, a gallon of regular gas cost $1.46. More than seven years later, prices have climbed to more than $4 per gallon of regular gas and nearly $4.80 per gallon of diesel fuel.
