CONGRESSMAN SARBANES ANNOUNCES $108,000 GRANT TO THE ANNAPOLIS FIRE DEPARTMENT

{March 6, 2008}

Washington, DC -- The Annapolis Fire Department received a $108,000 grant from the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grants program. The grant will provide the department with increased funding for staffing, recruitment, training and equipment.
“Fire fighters put their lives on the line every day to serve our communities. We should be providing them with the resources they need to succeed” said Congressman John Sarbanes. “I am pleased that the Annapolis Fire Department has received this funding and will continue to support federal funding for fire fighter assistance programs.”
AFG Grants provide funding to career and volunteer fire departments across the country. These funds give departments the necessary resources to hire new firefighters and to recruit and retain volunteer firefighters. This program is critical to thousands of fire stations across the nation.
