Washington, DC -- The Maryland Transit Administration will be receiving more than $485,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for the proposed Central Maryland Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility.
The Central Maryland Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility will provide storage and maintenance space for a 120-bus operation employing 200 people. It will facilitate bus and van service for the existing regional population, recent expansion of military and civilian employment at both Fort Meade and the National Security Agency, and Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)-related development coming to the project’s service area.
“Rising gas prices and BRAC growth at Fort Meade require a renewed investment in our transit infrastructure,” said Congressman Sarbanes. “This funding, along with other investments the Congressional delegation has sought, will help prepare our transit systems to handle the increased demand
