WASHINGTON- This week the Conference Committee, made up of Members of both the House and Senate, reported the final version of the FY06 Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill. After working with conferees during the process, Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Menominee) was able to secure $3.4 million for a wide variety of vital projects for northern Michigan communities and facilities. The bill passed today on a 392-31 vote.
“I’m pleased that so many important northern Michigan transportation projects were included in this bill,” Stupak said. “From funding for facility expansions to new buses, rail crossing upgrades and snow plows, First Congressional District communities will benefit from these greatly needed improvements. Also, money for future campus additions at Northern Michigan University and Michigan Technological University was included.”
