Washington, DC - Congressman John Conyers welcomed last month's announcement that the Department of Justice had granted $350,000 to the Michigan State Police for the enforcement of underage drinking laws.
"This grant helps prevent individuals from preying on the young and the innocent," Conyers said. "I encourage our government to assist our local law enforcement agencies with the resources necessary to fight underage drinking."
The Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program aims to support state efforts to impose the laws that prohibit selling alcoholic beverages to and the consumption of these beverages by citizens under 21.
