(Washington, D.C) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves announced that the Department of Education has awarded a $979,621 grant to the Blue Springs School District R-IV. The funds will be used to participate in the Teaching American History Grants Program
.
“In order to define our future, it is essential for our children to know our past,” said Graves. “The Teaching American History Grants Program will help ensure that our teachers are experts on American History.”
The program is designed to raise student achievement by improving teachers' knowledge and understanding of and appreciation for traditional U.S. history. By helping teachers to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of U.S. history as a separate subject matter within the core curriculum, these programs will improve instruction and raise student achievement.
