"It has been a long journey, but this is an important project for all of Atchison County," said Graves. "This historic landmark will continue its mission of bringing people together and memorializing those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country."

The funding was requested by Graves and included in the Transportation/Housing and Urban Development bill earlier this year; however a final bill never made it to the President’s desk. Instead, funding was included in the Omnibus Appropriations Bill that passed the House on Monday night. That bill is expected to be passed in the Senate and sent to the President this week.
