(Washington, D.C) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves announced that the Department of Homeland Security has awarded a $146,775 grant to the Bethany Fire Department. The funds will be used to purchase a new vehicle.

 

 “It is essential that rural areas continue to have the equipment they need to respond to emergencies,” said Graves. “I am proud to support this funding for all of Harrison County.”

 

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program awards one-year grants directly to local fire departments and emergency responders, enhancing their abilities to respond to fire and fire-related hazards in their communities. For fiscal year 2007, $490 million in firefighter grants are to be distributed by the Department of Homeland Security.
