The Hon. Lisa Jackson Administrator U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 1200 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington, D.C. 20460
Dear Administrator,
As you know, your agency has been working closely with State and other federal agencies to investigate the possible causes and presence of a brain tumor cluster in and around the town of Cameron, Missouri.
New evidence is being presented today that points to a possible environmental source or cause of these tumors involving hexavalent chromium, a known carcinogen. Previous EPA efforts did not investigate the specific sources where hexavelent chromium has been discovered.
I ask the EPA to move quickly and to use all available resources to examine this evidence and to conduct any additional measures necessary to protect public health.
Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. Please know that you can call on me anytime.
Sincerely,
Sam Graves Member of Congress
