(Liberty) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves announced today that Dan Hegeman will be in charge of his St. Joseph office, effective March 3rd. Hegeman will lead an office in charge of providing constituent services to 23 counties and over 300,000 constituents.
“Dan’s experience as a state legislator, county official and a small businessman will give him a unique insight into the issues of St. Joseph and rural Missouri,” said Graves. “He is a devoted public servant and I am excited that he is going to be a part of the team.”
Hegeman will continue to serve as the Andrew County Clerk until the end of February. He was elected in 2002 and was re-elected without opposition in 2006. Hegeman served in the Missouri House after winning a special election in 1991 until he was term-limited out in 2002. He and his wife, Francine, have four children and live on a family dairy farm near Cosby.
“This is a great opportunity to continue my public service to an even wider constituency,” said Hegeman. “Sam Graves has always been known for his top-notch constituent services and I want to keep that focus. I have enjoyed my time as Andrew County Clerk and I will miss the people I work with everyday.”
The position became available when Dean Brookshier was named the City Administrator of Chillicothe earlier this year.
