(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves issued the following statement regarding Missouri Governor Matt Blunt’s request for federal assistance to help with response and recovery efforts.
“This morning I spoke with Dick Hainje, the Regional Director of FEMA, to personally convey to the White House the urgency of the situation and the need for federal assistance. Missourians are used to winter weather, however the week’s ice storm has caused tremendous damage throughout the state. Thousands of Missourians are still without electricity and federal resources are needed to help restore power quickly.
I want to thank Governor Blunt for his quick response and I urge the President to quickly approve his request.”
Graves is the ranking member on the subcommittee that oversees the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
