(Liberty) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves helped reauthorize a federal program designed to help communities upgrading sewers get federal grants or low interest loans. The State revolving fund provides $13.8 billion over five years in federal assistance to further capitalize the funds that provide low-interest loans for wastewater management.
“This bill could help provide resources to communities like St. Joseph who are trying to upgrade their infrastructure to get into compliance with federal guidelines,” said Graves. “There are a lot of communities struggling right now to make necessary upgrades to their wastewater infrastructure.”
In addition, the bill reauthorizes Environmental Protection Agency’s grant program for states or municipalities working to control overflows. The bill passed on a 317- 101 vote. It now advances to the Senate.
