WASHINGTON   –  U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) congratulated Joplin, Missouri, native NASCAR driver Jamie McMurray on his victory in Sunday’s 52nd annual running of the Daytona 500.

“I’m very happy for Jamie, a fine young man and just one of many outstanding drivers who hail from Missouri.  With his tremendous victory at Daytona, Jamie has cemented his place in motorsports history,” Emerson said.  “On the track and off it, Jamie is a great role model, a wonderful spokesperson for the sport, and an inspiration for all Americans who see his work ethic and how he gives back to the community.”

McMurray is active in the charity work on behalf of the Autism Society of America.
