EMERSON ANNOUNCES U.S. ARMY COMMUNITY AND FAMILY SUPPORT HOTLINE
TODAY, U.S. REPRESENTATIVE JO ANN EMERSON (MO-08) ANNOUNCED A FAMILY ASSISTANCE HOTLINE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO ARMY FAMILIES.
Washington, DC -
The U.S. Army Community And Family Support Center (CFSC), and Army Family Liaison Office, Have Established A Toll-Free Family Assistance Hotline (800) 833-6622.

A toll-free Family Assistance Hotline has been established for family members of active duty Army soldiers, Army National Guard and Army Reserve who have unanswered questions about family support-related issues. This hotline is a "safety net" for those who have exhausted other information resources.

Family members can find answers to the following types of questions:
  • How can I contact my soldier?
  • Where can a get my child a military ID card?
  • Where do I go to get my ID card renewed?
  • What sort of health benefits am I entitled to?
  • How do I find out about Tri-Care (military health insurance system) benefits?
The toll-free hotline (800) 833-6622 is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (EST), seven days a week, to answer family support-related questions. Emergency assistance will be provided between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. EST. The hotline is available for calls made from within the continental United States, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Callers are able to speak to hotline staff members who have access to extensive reference materials. The hotline cannot provide information about casualties or soldiers wounded or missing in action. Due to operational security and force protection concerns, CFSC hotline staff cannot provide locator services (addresses) for soldiers or units, or information about operational matters.

In addition to local and Army level assistance via telephone, family members can find answers to many routine questions about family readiness, Army Community Service (ACS), and deployment support resources online at the ACS Web site, www.goacs.org, and at the Army Family Liaison Office website, www.aflo.org.

The U.S. Army Community and Family Support Center oversees the global Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program that enhances the quality of life for America's soldiers and their families. The MWR program includes a variety of activities and support, such as libraries, sports/fitness and community recreation centers, child development and youth services, and family and financial counseling. Army MWR helps give "America's best" a quality of life comparable to that of the Americans they are pledged to defend. For more information, see http://www.armymwr.com.
