WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) welcomed Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to Washington today.  Gov. Blagojevich recently announced that the state of Illinois would conduct a study into how much money it would save under a policy of purchasing prescription drugs from Canada.

 

"Cash-strapped state and local governments are looking for relief in a logical place.  The prescription drugs sold overseas at bargain prices are the exact same ones needed here at home.  I understand Gov. Blagojevich's need to take such measures.  I hope Congress will follow through on legislation to make pharmaceuticals more affordable for American governments and American seniors," Emerson said.
