Washington D.C. - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will join a bipartisan congressional delegation to the Middle East. Ten Members of Congress will travel in the congressional delegation.
Due to security concerns, the dates and itinerary will not be released.
“It is important that we see this part of the world firsthand,” Emerson said. “Much of what Congress is trying to accomplish this year depends on the Middle East – from international relations to energy policy to homeland security.
“I hope to learn more about the political climate in the region and the challenges people in the Middle East face for their future. This region is truly the key to stability in the world. America is going to play major role in whether many nations there evolve into peaceful, free, democratic societies.”
Emerson will issue statements during the congressional delegation mission, and she will be available for interviews upon her return from the Middle East. |
