Washington D.C. - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) today announced that, with the passage of the conference report on the Energy & Water Appropriations bill, critical flood control projects for Southern Missouri are secure.
"This bill contains essential funding to protect against the threat of damage to people and property posed by floods. Citizens of Missouri have witnessed firsthand the disasters that can occur when flood control infrastructure is insufficient," Emerson said. "Some of these projects have been in the works since before I was born, and I am proud to announce that we are making progress while protecting the homes, businesses, and lives of residents."
The conference report overwhelmingly passed in the House of Representative today by a vote of 387-36.
Emerson worked hand-in-hand with U.S. Sen. Kit Bond, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, to secure funds for many of the projects.
