WASHINGTON – {U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will visit with the Acting Forest Supervisor, the Acting Deputy Forest Supervisor and the Project Leader for the Columbia Field Station of the Northern Research Station of the U.S. Forest Service. The meeting at the Mark Twain National Forest Office in Rolla will begin at 10:30 a.m.
“Small-diameter timber and forest management issues are extremely important to our relationship with the Mark Twain National Forest. At the same time, it is important that the forest is available to the taxpayers who enjoy its beauty,” said Emerson. “The Forest Service makes a great effort to forge a relationship with the communities that interact with the Mark Twain for economic and recreation reasons. I appreciate their receptiveness and responsiveness to our input.”
Emerson led congressional outcry over a provision of recent energy legislation which eliminated an incentive for the use of wood waste from national forests in ethanol production. She also secured
