WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will visit the Cape Girardeau Fire Department on Monday, March 24, to meet with Fire Chief Rich Ennis. Earlier this month, the city secured a federal grant of $316,275 for additional personnel.
“Our fire fighters and EMTs have a tremendous responsibility in our communities, as this last week of flooding has demonstrated. I am very glad the grant they have secured will help them in their duty to make Cape Girardeau a safe, secure city. I commend the department and Chief Ennis for their vision and perseverance in finding opportunities to expand funding for their crucial mission,” said Emerson.
Federal grant funding was made available under the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response program of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
