Washington DC  -  U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) and Missouri Senators Kit Bond and Jim Talent today announced a $94,500 Water Waste and Disposal Grant to Public Water Supply District #3.

 

The Rural Development funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be used to complete construction of a new well, well house, standpipe and distribution lines to serve an additional 100 rural residents.  The distribution lines are to be located to the north and east of Willow Springs.  The existing system currently serves 400 rural residents.

 

“Quality, safe drinking water is an essential ingredient to the quality of life in rural Missouri.  I am pleased these improvements will increase the capacity of the Willow Springs public water system by 25 percent, and I will continue to work in Congress to ensure that rural Missouri is not left behind,” Emerson said.

 

“These dollars will help meet critical water needs in the Willow Springs community,” said Bond.  “Often rural communities lake some of the basic water services many of us take for granted.  For the folks in Willow Springs, these dollars will make a real difference.”

 

“I’m pleased to announce this funding to preserve and protect Missouri’s water resources,” said Talent, a member of the Senate Agriculture and Forestry Committee.  “This local infrastructure funding will expand service to an additional 100 residents and improve water quality in the community for years to come.”
