WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will tomorrow hold the second of four Southern Missouri Economic Roundtable discussions in Mountain Grove. The meeting will take place at the Mountain Grove YMCA, 1 YMCA Drive, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. CDT.
There are a lot of individual business successes taking place in Missouri. By combining the resources of our area with the experience and new ideas from around our region, we hope to replicate those success. Job creation and job retention are chief among our priorities. With the amount of know-how assembled here in Mountain Grove, we ought to make some progress toward these goals, Emerson said.
The Roundtable discussion will focus on the unique challenges of building and maintaining a productive economic environment in rural Southern Missouri.
We must fight to make sure Southern Missouri will share in the resurgent economy. This is a marketplace competing with producers and manufacturers around the globe. We have a dedicated workforce, strong communities, and an improving infrastructure. This cooperative strategy will help us to maximize our potential, Emerson said.
Before the meeting, Emerson will tour the Industrial Park, where two new businesses are expected to soon open, creating 80 additional jobs.
