WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will tomorrow hold the third of four Southern Missouri Economic Roundtable discussions in Portageville. The meeting will take place at the Delta Center, off Highway T, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. CDT.
There are a lot of individual business successes taking place in Missouri. By combining the resources in our area with the experience and new ideas from around our region, we hope to repeat those success. Job creation and job retention are chief among our priorities. With the amount of know-how assembled here in Portageville, we ought to make some progress toward these goals, Emerson said.
The Roundtable discussion will focus on the unique challenges of building and maintaining a productive economic environment in rural Southern Missouri.
We must fight to make sure Southern Missouri will share in the resurgent economy. This is a marketplace competing with producers and manufacturers around the globe. We have a dedicated workforce, strong communities, and an improving infrastructure.
This cooperative strategy will help us to maximize our potential, Emerson said.
Among those in attendance will be Ron Randen from Missouri Enterprise, a state resource for business training and opportunity, which has worked to create some structure and content for the Roundtable meetings. More about Missouri Enterprise is available on the Internet at www.missourienterprise.org.
