WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) and Senators Kit Bond and Jim Talent today announced a $1,000,000 grant and a $200,000 loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development to the Village of Plato. Funds from the Water and Waste Disposal grant and loan will be used to construct a new sewer collection and treatment facility.
“Rural Development funds are important to bolstering the water and waste infrastructure in Southern Missouri. This project will serve the entire village of Plato, including the Plato Public School,” Emerson said. “This project is a worthwhile investment in the quality of life in the area, and it will pay great dividends to this Texas County community over the coming years. In addition to a new facility, the area will be getting the jobs that accompany this kind of investment.”
"Rural Development funds are essential to small communities like the Village of Plato who depend on federal dollars to provide their citizens the most basic and critical services," said Senator Kit Bond. "Today's announcement will provide this community with water services they need."
“The federal government is continuing to partner with Missouri communities on behalf of our state’s infrastructure needs,” Sen. Talent said. “This grant will provide valuable resources for the village of Plato and it’s another example of the where the Administration has identified a specific need and succeeded in meeting it. I am very pleased to announce this water infrastructure grant along with Sen. Bond and Congresswoman Emerson who are leading the effort to bring additional federal dollars back to Missouri.” |
