CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) today announced the schedule for her upcoming August Farm Tour of Southern Missouri agricultural producers. The 2004 Farm Tour will include 15 scheduled stops in 10 counties between Tuesday, August 10 and Friday, August 13.
“I look forward to the Farm Tour every year. Southern Missouri is home to a wide variety of agricultural producers, and I am proud to represent our hardworking farmers, ranchers, and agriculture businesses,” Emerson said. “The Farm Tour is a chance for me to see a number of different farm operations and discuss ways to get the most out of our agricultural economy.”
Producers on Emerson’s tour include timber, dairy, rice, and Christmas trees. She will also meet with local growers throughout the Eighth District and tour the Good Humor Ice Cream plant in Sikeston.
“My colleagues in Congress and I have a responsibility to do everything possible to assist our farmers in their mission to feed the country, as well as the world. It is especially important to me to visit with our producers, researchers, and agri-business leaders one-on-one and see their operations firsthand. Agriculture is vital to our rural economy, and our farms are a source of pride for us and for generations to come,” Emerson said.
Emerson is a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture in the U.S. House of Representatives.
