WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) and U.S. Senator Jim Talent today announced that the Economic Development Administration will award a $51,000 grant to the Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission, located in Poplar Bluff, MO. The grant will fund economic development planning in the area, a major priority of all three representatives.
“In the economic development round tables I held throughout the Eighth Congressional District, the importance of good economic planning was stressed over and over again,” Emerson said. “These funds are marked for important purposes: to strengthen our rural economy, to create new jobs, and to develop plans for the future of our region. The Regional Planning Commission deserves congratulations for earning this grant. I look forward to seeing their good ideas put into action soon.”
“Economic development planning is critical to recruiting new businesses and creating jobs in the Bootheel area.” Sen. Talent said. “I am very pleased that the Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission will be receiving these funds to explore new opportunities for Butler County.” |
