WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will make remarks at the September 11th Operation Guarding Liberty ceremony at Freedom Corner in Capaha Park tomorrow in Cape Girardeau. The event will take place from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. CDT.
Emerson will also lay a wreath at the feet of Lady Liberty in Freedom Corner at the event.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to join Operation Guarding Liberty in Cape Girardeau in remembrance of September 11th. That date has become extremely important in our national life. It is a day to set aside and honor the men and women who lost their lives on that date three years ago and to recognize all of those who have made sacrifices for our nation since,” Emerson said. “It is so amazing the number of Americans who woke up as ordinary men and women that day, and then became heroes. Our first responders, our policemen, our firefighters, and our men and women in uniform have lifted this nation up and carried it with their courage.
“We must never forget the heroes of September 11th, the courage of that day, and the patriotic pride that was rekindled by the kindness of Americans everywhere.”
