WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) today will attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the new addition at the Texas County Technical Institute. The classroom addition, funded by a $200,000 grant from the Delta Regional Authority, will house a new program at the Institute, where training for Registered Nurses will begin in January, 2005.
“I’m gratified that we are bringing these types of opportunities to Southern Missouri. Job training and health care are precious commodities in rural America, and the Texas County Technical Institute is working to bring both to us here at home,” Emerson said. “This is a great development for our community that highlights what we can do by working together to foster these types of opportunities.”
Emerson also announced a $50,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development to develop a marketing plan for the current health care education programs offered by the Institute.
“It is essential that we make students and workers aware of this opportunity to specialize their skills. Southern Missouri is home to so many caring communities, and we have a lot to offer in the field of health care. Rural Development is helping to advance the mission of the Texas County Technical Institute and to strengthen the programs that keep our community learning,” Emerson said.
The 2,500-square-foot addition also holds equipment donated by Texas County Memorial Hospital valued at $52,000. |
