WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) tomorrow will host the 53rd annual National Prayer Breakfast from the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC. Guests will include President Bush and the First Lady, two foreign heads of state, and officials from over 140 nations.
The event, which begins at 7:30 a.m. EST, will air on C-SPAN from approx. 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. EST; 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. CST. Local television stations may use portions of this broadcast for their normal news broadcasts.
“The National Prayer Breakfast is a long-standing, non-denominational gathering for our nation’s leaders,” Emerson said. “I’m honored and humbled to have a role in this year’s breakfast, the purpose of which is to share the act of prayer. We face a number of challenges in the world today – recovering from the tsunami disaster, fighting hunger, securing liberty, and creating peace. It’s important to take some time to reflect on the work ahead of us.”
Emerson is president of the weekly prayer breakfasts in the U.S. House of Representatives.
