WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) today announced the 2005 Congressional Art Contest from Missouri’s Eighth Congressional District. The winning piece will be part of the national exhibition in the U.S. Capitol until May of 2006. All entrants will receive a certificate of participation and there will be ten honorable mentions in addition to the winning entry. All artwork will be displayed as a part of the Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA) meeting in Cape Girardeau on March 18th on the Campus of Southeast Missouri State University. Both MSTA and the University are co-sponsors of the contest.
Entries are due in Emerson’s Cape Girardeau office by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
“Having their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol is a high honor for the extremely gifted artists from Southern Missouri who have been selected over the years,” Emerson said.
Last year’s contest featured 233 entries from 13 different high schools.
Eighth District high school art teachers should have received deadlines, guidelines and entry forms. If this information is still required, please contact Darren Lingle in Emerson’s Cape Girardeau office at (573) 335-0101. |
