WASHINGTON  -  U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) today offered the following remarks as USDA Rural Development provided a combination of grants and loans totaling $1,740,000 to the City of Van Buren.  The funding will support construction of a sewer system.

 

“I am very pleased at the awarding of these funds to improve overall water quality for residents of the City of Van Buren,” Emerson said.  “In rural America, safe and clean wastewater disposal requires infrastructure that is very expensive to build.  I am very appreciative of the efforts made by USDA Rural Development to identify this investment in Carter County and to fund these improvements.”
