WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) today announced that she has replaced her Mobile Office with a new program, called Congressional Connection, to improve constituent service in the Eighth District. The program of one-hour stops will operate monthly to help keep Emerson in contact with constituents throughout the area.
“Folks need to be able to meet one-on-one with a member of my staff every so often to discuss casework as well as the issues facing us in Southern Missouri. The Congressional Connection program gets staff out of the office and into communities where they can have these types of meetings on a drop-in basis,” Emerson said. “The best part of the new program is that the staff member in most cases will be back in the office by the end of the day and able to pass along the result of these meetings to me as soon as possible.”
Emerson has three offices in the Eighth Congressional District, in Cape Girardeau, Farmington, and Rolla. Staff members from each office will be responsible for the Congressional Connection program in their respective region, establishing a closer connection between constituents and the staff members who normally serve them.
“I hope this new program will foster close relationships between my staff and the Southern Missouri residents who need their assistance in dealing with federal agencies or getting their opinions to me. When I cannot be in Missouri, it is important for people to know I do still have staff here who can help them out,” Emerson said.
A regional schedule is attached.
