WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) today expressed frustration that the U.S. Postal Service is not making progress on a new facility for west Cape Girardeau.
“I am disappointed the U.S. Post Office did not meet the June deadline for establishing a retail postal facility on the west side of Cape Girardeau. Not only has the USPS made a commitment to this much-needed facility, it is also a matter of convenience to thousands of families in Cape. It has been 40 years since the present post office was constructed on North Frederick Street, far from areas where the city is growing. The one post office in Cape processes more mail than other cities of comparable size with multiple post offices, such as Paducah, Kentucky. I will definitely be in contact with the officials at the regional office in Kansas City as well as offices in Denver to find out where the hold-up is and what we can do to get things moving,” Emerson said. |
