WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will visit New Madrid County for two stops on Wednesday as part of her 24th Annual Emerson Farm Tour. At 10:00 a.m., Emerson will visit the Delta Center for an emphasis on irrigation in Portageville. Emerson will tour the Monsanto Seed Distribution Facility in Matthews and join employees for lunch from noon to 1:00 p.m. CDT.
“A major part of the Farm Tour is learning about how research and businesses play leading roles in our agricultural economy,” Emerson said. “Technology plays an increasingly major role in farming here in Southern Missouri. The Delta Center is home to important work that serves as a proving ground-type resource for farmers. As the northernmost rice-producing district in the country, irrigation is clearly a big part of these operations.”
