WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) tomorrow will hold a roundtable with rice producers about the status of U.S. rice exports to Cuba. The roundtable will take place at the Rone Exhibit Hall, West Room at the Delta Center in Portageville, MO.
Emerson and Talent will brief rice growers about the state of U.S./Cuba trade relations and their efforts in Congress to improve Cuban access to the U.S. agricultural market.
Since late 2001, Cuba has purchased $1.3 billion in agricultural products from the United States growing to become the 24th largest U.S. export market. Trade to Cuba is largely regulated by policies of the U.S. federal government, which has imposed sanctions on the island nation.
