WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will join area leaders tomorrow at dedication ceremonies for the completed four-lane segment of Highway 60 in Butler and Carter Counties.
“This is a great event for Southern Missouri. It marks a better, safer day for travel and transportation in our region. The new interchange is a great investment in the people and produce of Southern Missouri, where we rely on highways every day,” Emerson said. “The reality of a rural area of our country is that highways become the link between people and their doctors, schools, grocery stores and community events.
“I am very proud of all the individuals who have put a great deal of effort into this project. As we work to strengthen the investment in Southern Missouri transportation infrastructure, I am especially grateful for the strong advocacy of Senator Kit Bond and the tremendous effort of state and local officials. The need for projects such as building four lanes of Highway 60 is urgent, and I look forward to seeing the positive effects ripple through our community.”
