WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will tour the Johnson Shut-Ins on Tuesday, January 17 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. CST. Officials from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources will accompany Emerson on the tour of damage caused by the Taum Sauk Reservoir flood.
“Seeing the damage caused by the flood is important to understanding what DNR is faced with to clean up the mess and reopen the park to the public. Floods are catastrophic, damaging events which can be harmful to people as well as to nature. I appreciate DNR and SEMA working so hard together in the park in order to help get the day use area on line for the summer season,” Emerson said.
Reporters are welcome to accompany Emerson and the DNR officials and can meet at the entrance to the park off of N Highway. Two trailers are located there and are visible from the road.
