WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will hold a listening session with area agricultural producers in Sikeston on Monday, February 13 at the Clinton Building. The session will begin at 9:30 and will last to 11:30. The House Agriculture Committee plans to hold its first hearing on the Farm Bill next week.
“The upcoming negotiations over the farm bill are going to be extremely important for Southern Missouri. I want to hear what all of our area producers have to say on the subject,” Emerson said. “I am already laying the groundwork in Washington to represent our region’s best interests on policies that will affect our farming and ranching operations. Whether we extend the Farm Bill for a year or two, which would be my preference, or start renegotiating it now – we must be prepared to stand up for our best interests.”
There will be a time for organizations and individuals to comment on the Farm Bill.
