Emerson, FBI to Honor Fallen E. Prairie Soldier

WASHINGTON  -  Army Spc. Blake Hall died serving his country in Afghanistan on August 21, 2005, but the Mississippi County native and East Prairie High School graduate has not been forgotten by his neighbors, state, or nation.  U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) and a representative of the Federal Bureau of Investigation will participate in a ceremony to acknowledge Hall’s lifelong dream of becoming an FBI agent on Monday, February 13 at 1:00 p.m. CST at the East Prairie High School Auditorium.

“Here’s a young man who wanted to serve his nation in so many ways, who was excited about service, who loved his country.  The least we can do to help honor his memory is to continue to show how proud we are of him by honoring the example he set,” Emerson said.  “There’s no doubt in my mind that Blake would have gone on to serve our country in every way he could. I’m proud of that spirit of service and so is the FBI.”

Hall will be posthumously awarded a plaque from the Federal Bureau of Investigation honoring his sacrifice in Afghanistan by Special Agent in Charge of the St. Louis Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“Blake is deeply missed by so many members in our Southeast Missouri community, and this is a great tribute to him that captures his importance to us.  Even after he is gone, Blake inspires everyone who learns his story and that includes me,” Emerson said.
