WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) tomorrow afternoon will visit the Gainesville Medical Clinic from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. CDT.
“Rural health care is a continuing priority of mine in Congress, and I look forward to visiting with faculty and patients at the Gainesville Medical Clinic to see how we can improve federal programs for the citizens who rely on rural medical facilities near their homes,” Emerson said.
“Our system of health care is an important part of every rural community. Federal and state support for providers such as the Gainesville Medical Clinic is essential to emergency response, service to senior citizens, and a generally healthy population.”
Emerson has offered several articles of legislation in Congress to reduce prescription drug prices, fine-tune the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit, and most recently a bill to expand benefits for physical therapists who choose to work in rural areas.
“I want to talk about what Congress is doing to improve the quality of our medial services, but I also want to hear from professionals and patients about how the system can serve them better,” Emerson said. “There is no question that our health care system needs a lot of attention.”
