WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will accompany a member of her staff to a monthly Congressional Connection meeting this month. Emerson’s outreach program creates “office hours” at a public building in Southern Missouri communities, sending staff to meet constituents who cannot easily travel to one of her three district offices.
On Monday, May 8, Emerson will attend Congressional Connection events in Malden, Dexter, and Poplar Bluff.
“It is very important that residents of the Eighth Congressional District know that I am available to them even if they are unable to come to see my staff or me. These face to face meetings also keep me informed about the kinds of casework issues arising when a constituent needs my help in dealing with a federal agency,” Emerson said. “My job is about listening to the concerns of folks in the Eighth Congressional District. That’s the case whether I can be at our monthly outreach meetings or it is a member of my staff reporting to me. I especially look forward to having these conversations, though. It is nice to know the face that goes with the name.”
