WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) returned to Braggadocio last weekend to survey damage remaining from the F-3 tornado that swept through the area. Emerson met with residents and helped address problems with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and federal agencies while on site.
“Without question, losing our home and possessions in a natural disaster is one of the most difficult challenges we could face in life. I’m inspired by how the people of Braggadocio are staying positive, and I appreciate the chance to hear from them about their experiences with FEMA, as well as to take care of any hiccups that we could quickly solve with a telephone call while I was there,” Emerson said.
Emerson has been directly involved with negotiations to bring trailers to the area to provide shelter and housing for displaced residents from the over 400 homes which were either destroyed or severely damaged by the storm.
“Seeing the progress at every stage is extremely important, which is why I will keep coming back to this area and sending my staff to help people recuperate from the tornado. We have a long way to go before Braggadocio and Pemiscot County can breathe easy, but we have come a long way, too,” Emerson said. |
