WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) on Friday will present Bob Silvey with legislation, S. 4073, sponsored by her and signed by President George W. Bush, which names the new Farmington Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic for Silvey. Emerson will make the presentation at her Farmington office at 10:00 a.m.
“The Robert Silvey Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic is a proud institution in our congressional district, and it is fittingly named for a man who made it all possible. Bob embodies the highest virtues of our community and our country: duty, honor, and service to others. I’m very proud to present him with an original copy of the bill signed into law by the president on Friday. Bob is truly an American hero, and a great inspiration to us all. This is a great honor for him,” Emerson said.
The bill was sponsored by Senator Jim Talent in the U.S. Senate and agreed to on November 16, 2006. Emerson advanced the legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives where it was agreed to on December 6, 2006. President Bush signed the bill on December 18, 2006 and it became Public Law 109-414.
